Review--Oblivion by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Experience the epic love story of OBSIDIAN as told by its hero, Daemon Black…

I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.

And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.

But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.

Falling for Katy—a human—won't just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen...

My fingers are hovering over the keyboard as I struggle how to put into words how I felt about Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Oblivion, and that would be the extended ebook version of Oblivion. Here we not only get Daemon’s point of view for the events of Obsidian, but also Onyx and Opal and just wow. Wow. Holy freaking wow!!

What’s great about reading these books now, is that I already know how the story is supposed to go. There are no curveballs, and yet, I still got the same weepy tears that I did throughout the books when I read them through Katy’s point of view. You pretty much read these books after you’ve already read the series at large. Granted, for me, that was a few years ago and several hundred books ago!

I remember when I first met Daemon in Obsidian, I agreed with Katy. He was a douche. But seriously, reading from his point of view, totally shines bright freaking light onto the situation. And I can’t help but love him a little more. Still want to slap him upside the head a few times, of course, but luckily Katy pretty much does that in her own way!

It’s hard to review a book you’ve read before, even if this is a new take on it. The story stays the same for the most part, but we basically see what Daemon is doing when he wasn’t with Katy and it’s definitely a worthy read! Because seriously who loves the Lux books and not Daemon? He’s an ass at times, but he’s an ass with heart! LOL.

I was surprised by how fast these reads were. Granted, I had to break after Obsidian because I had a review book, but then I dove right back in and here I am totally finished with all three books! It almost makes me want to go back and re-read Origin and Opposition, but sadly, my reading schedule just doesn’t have that kind of time.

Another thing I loved, was experiencing the incredibleness of the series again! I loved falling in love with Daemon again. I loved laughing with Dee and Katy. And omg, the book gushing! I loved Katy being a blogger and I loved how Daemon finds her blog without her knowing and following her. I even loved hating Bran? Billy? (Blake naturally, but I pretty much loved Daemon purposely not getting his name right either!) And basically feeling all those same feelings I had throughout the series all over again. I didn’t quite care for the heartaches, but luckily there were still plenty of pick me up moments with Daemon and then of course, there’s the fact that I already know how the series ends!

But seriously, what else is there to say about how awesome and amazing this book was? It’s just awesome and amazing! I loved being in Daemon’s head! I loved all his attitude moments, his sweeter moments, and the moments where he berates himself for his attitude or sweetness! And who could forget the spaghetti scene?! Still one of my most favorite moments ever!

Oblivion, in both its formats—which again, I HIGHLY suggest getting the ebook for you get MORE of Daemon, and the paperback, because who doesn’t want to stare at that cover all day—is truly the read for the Lux fan. And I know a LOT of Lux fans! I’m sure they’ve all finished with this one, as it seems I am not as fast a reader as I once thought! But I loved enjoying and taking my time for a little one on one with Daemon. Now if only I can find a real life version of him who’s more my age! Haha.

Everything about Oblivion was truly perfect and amazing! And I think Daemon would agree with that because he thinks of himself as perfect and amazing as well! And hell, he pretty much is after that first book! LOL!
