"With a snort, Scarlet trotted after him. 'Well, isn't that a relief. We're stranded in wild wolf territory, but as long as you say they're not going to bother us...' She clicked the gun's safety back on and was tucking it back in her waistband when Wolf's gesture gave her pause.

'They won't bother us,' he said again, almost smiling. 'But you might want to keep that out anyway, just in case.'" p 185

TITLE: Scarlet
AUTHOR: Marissa Meyer

PUBLISHER: Puffin Books
GENRE: Fantasy YA
RELEASE DATE: February 5, 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

This week's topic is: Top Authors I've Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More

*in on particular order

1. Marissa Meyer--read Cinder, felt meh, but everyone tells me I need to read Scarlet, so I am. I'm reading it now, so technically, I haven't "read" two yet!
2. Aprilynne Pike--read Wings too long ago, have the rest of the series but have yet to actually read them!
3. Jessica Brody--read Unremembered, loved it! Need to read the second one! Plan to read it very soon as she's coming to St. Louis in early October and I need to be totally caught up!!

4. Jane Nickerson--loved Strands of Bronze & Gold and have The Mirk & Midnight Hour in my TBR mountain, so I just need to make time to read it!
5. Sarah J. Maas--so I read Throne of Glass, felt meh and decided to pass on the series despite the love going round but I am dying for her new series A Court of Thorns and Roses! So definitely going to try that one out!
6. Chloe Jacobs--probably hard to say this one because Chloe only has the one book out but I am DYING to read Greta and the Glass Kingdom! If only I knew WHEN it was coming out!

7. Danielle Monsch--read Stone Guardian and loved it! Have yet to get around to acquiring her other books but hope to one day!
8. Syrie James--I ADORED Nocturne! Such a beautiful love story between vampire and human. I cried! Yes much love! I have this YA one that she co-wrote and I might one day read her other vampire book but have yet to get those either!
9. Rick Yancey--loooved The 5th Wave! Plan to start The Infinite Sea soon as well, but I debate about his previous series! Heard that one was good too!

10. Isaac Marion--another one that is perhaps unfair to label for said topic, as there's only one book out with the second one being written. But still, there it is! I read one book by him and would love/can't wait to read more!

  1. Great list! Isaac Marion is on my list, too. I'm at the same place when it comes to Aprilynne Pike - read Wings years ago, haven't gotten around to Spells, as for Rick Yancey, even though The 5th Wave was a great read, I read The Monstrumologist a few years ago, and it was absolutely amazing. I haven't gotten around to the sequels yet, but I highly recommend you read this one.

Happy reading, Jessica! I hope you'll enjoy all of these when you get around to them (and I hope you're enjoying Scarlet - I'm reading Cress right now).

  7. Awesome list and more than a few on there that I'm not familiar with so I need to look them up and see if any of them are my cup of tea too!

  8. Reading the Lunar Chronicles is so must - glad you're working on remedying that ;)

I have so many authors where I've just read 1 book. Sometimes because they only have the one, but more likely, their first book didn't blow me away enough for me to HAVE to read the next one and, though I do want to read more, they keep getting pushed back :/ From your list, I've only read more Sarah J. Maas. I have to say I've loved ToG, but I'm sure you've heard that plenty ;)

  9. Scarlet!!! <3 I felt the same way about Cinder and actually abandoned the series until I finally read Scarlet and became obsessed! You'll love Cress even more! Enjoy!

  14. I actually liked Rick Yancey's Monstrumologist series even more than The Fifth Wave, to be honest (though I haven't gotten to the fourth book yet!) A word of warning though, Monstrumologist is VERY different, all horror and no romance and very gory! But I LOVED it.

And hey, thanks for that heads up. I didn't know that she has an upcoming series. I am such a lame fan. LOL!
