Who is Catalia Fisa?
With the help of pivotal figures from her past, Cat begins to understand the root of her exceptional magic, her fated union with Griffin Sinta, and Griffin's role in shaping her destiny.
Only Cat holds the key to unlocking her own power, and that means finally accepting herself, her past, and her future in order to protect her loved ones, confront her murderous mother, and taking a final, terrifying step--reuniting all three realms and taking her place as the Queen of Thalyria.
What doesn't kill her will only make her stronger...we hope.
Heart on Fire is Amanda Bouchet's thrilling conclusion to the The Kingmaker Chronicles, but the world series is far from over as we all know now, Amanda is returning to it next year! In this story we will get the end of Cat and Griffin's story arc as they plan to battle with Cat's mother in order to save their kingdom.
Cat and Griffin are basically preparing for a war with Cat's mother in order to save their kingdom and the neighboring ones. It's their hope that they can ban together and get back the land that is rightfully theirs. Cat is also pregnant and while trying to protect her unborn child from her nasty mother, she's also learning a thing or two about her pregnancy and just how special her child will be.
One thing I've forgotten about this series, is how simple the plot is. This truly is Cat and Co. readying for a battle. Yes, there's more to it than that, but at the same time, there's not. The readying for war is what takes place the most in this one. We watch as Cat and Griffin have to overcome small battles, gain allies, train those allies, and of course, yet more small battles.
Cat also does a bit of self-discovery/self-realization in this one. She's coming to terms with how her life has turned out and the role the gods and goddesses have played in it. True, she's known some of this already, but it's all coming together now to form the big picture.
Cat is a fantastic heroine! I love that she's so fierce and brave, and never afraid to speak what's on her mind. Her interactions with Griffin have always been a delight, from the teasing to the romantic moments and there are still plenty of those! Cat being pregnant does not stop the romance between these two!
While we get to see Cat and Griffin's ending, I can't help but wonder for some of the other characters in the series. While we know the new book will focus on Jocasta and Flynn, I still have questions for a few of the others who we briefly saw here and there, but never got to learn of their fates. I haven't quite learned if the new series will be another trilogy that follows them, or if it will touch on some of the other characters I'm not fully mentioning for minor spoiler purposes. Time will tell I guess!
The Kingmaker Chronicles is the perfect fantasy series for those looking for a magical adventure series coupled with humor, romance, and of course a good deal of action! This series was a delight to read and I cannot wait to continue reading more of this world in the coming year!
