Review--Moonlight Seduction by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The de Vincent brothers are back—and so is the intrigue that surrounds them—in New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s sizzling new novel...

Nicolette Bresson never thought she’d return to the de Vincents’ bayou compound. It’s where her parents work, where Nikki grew up... and where she got her heart broken by Gabriel de Vincent himself. Yet here she is, filling in for her sick mother. Avoiding Gabe should be easy, especially when so much of Nikki’s time is spent trying not to be stabbed in the back by the malicious hangers-on who frequent the mansion. But escaping memories of Gabe, much less his smoking-hot presence, is harder than expected—especially since he seems determined to be in Nikki’s space as much as possible.

Gabriel spent years beating himself up over his last encounter with Nikki. He’d wanted her then, but for reasons that were bad for both of them. Things have now changed. Gabe sees more than a girl he’s known forever; he sees a smart, talented, and heartbreakingly beautiful woman... one who’s being stalked from the shadows. Now, Gabe will do anything to keep Nikki safe—and to stop the de Vincent curse from striking again.

In Moonlight Seduction, Jennifer L. Armentrout lets the middle de Vincent brother get a turn in the spotlight and oh yeah, I’m definitely going to be loving each of these brothers equally! Gabe is definitely no Lucian, but this story is filled with just as many twisted bits as its predecessor and perhaps, even more! This was definitely a most gripping read and I couldn’t get enough of it!

Nikki has just finished college and is returning home to help her parents out. They work for the de Vincent family as household staff and when Nikki’s mom starts her chemotherapy treatments, she steps in to help with the family she grew up with. It was no secret that Nikki always harbored a crush on the middle brother, Gabriel. He was the one who showed her kindness and was pretty much her best friend. Until the incident happened right before she went away to college. So naturally, coming back after four years is going to be completely and totally awkward.

Gabe is kind of thrown off when he sees Nikki again, after their last encounter he thought he’d never see her again. Though his reactions were kind of all over the place, happy, mad, elated…just enough to give Nikki whiplash. She’s tried her best to forget him, to move on with her life, but there’s just something about first loves I guess.

Strange things are happening around the de Vincent family home. Nikki has gotten the rundown of what already happened a few months ago and she can’t help but wonder what’s going on in the house now. Possible ghosts and family curses are still something to be feared, especially since Nikki is injured during her first week and then she gets the deep impression that she is being stalked by someone…or something!

This one definitely has a different tone when it came to the romance of the story. Gabe and Nikki have a past, one that evokes different kinds of emotion for them both. And you pretty much know from the beginning that feelings are going to start stirring between these two and for Nikki, the feelings aren’t completely old. And I have to say, wow. Once again, Jennifer has blown me away with the romance she writes! There were plenty of heated moments between Nikki and Gabe and I’ll admit that I was pretty much blushing through them all, which tends to happen when you read a book like this in public! LOL!

What I really liked about this one was all the added creepiness. There’s clearly something else going on in the background of things. The strange noises, feelings of being watched, and of course, the accidents. I was thoroughly chilled at times! I still can’t fathom the size of this house and basically how you could get lost in there or never know if there’s a dead body lying in a room somewhere! It’s almost creepy huge! Lol.

Once again I enjoyed getting both Nikki and Gabe’s perspectives in this one! It definitely lets you in on more what’s going on when you can get both. While Nikki is battling a plethora of emotions, Gabe is going through quite a few things too. And it seems the secrets from their pasts are refusing to remain forgotten for there are many that get brought up in this one! Moonlight Seduction is one heart-racing read on a number of levels.

The ending was quite climatic! While we get the main resolutions in place, there were still a few startling revelations and a few unresolved issues that also came about. I already had my suspicions of what direction Dev’s story might take and by reading the description I’ve found that I am already right! It’s definitely going to bring about a most exciting conclusion to these brothers’ stories!

I can never seem to praise Jennifer’s books enough! Her books just suck me in and don’t let go until the very end and even after that I am still left in a tailspin trying to find direction in life again! Her books take you to different and similar worlds, no matter the genre. If you love a good eerie mystery with paranormal elements and a smoking hot romance, than I would highly recommend picking up the de Vincent trilogy! Two are out, and only one more to go!
