Random Thursday

So let's continue on with the Disney World facts! I was totally hoping to read this particular article after I read the Disneyland one some months back! Never been to the land, though I'd like to one day. But I have been to the World a few times. But not enough. Oh no, never enough!!

Again I'll say I borrowed these facts from an article I found online written by Hilary White!

  • When Mr. Toad's Wild Ride closed, a tombstone was placed in the Haunted Mansion to honor it.--I sooo remember this ride from when I was a kid. I loved it! I saw that it was closed when I was there last over 10 years ago (sob!) but I don't think I knew to look in the Haunted Mansion Graveyard for his tombstone. Hopefully if our 2016 family trip pulls through I'll find it!
  • You can't bring balloons, straws, or drink lids in to the Animal Kingdom Park.--It's for the safety of the animals!
  • The camel outside the Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride actually spits on you.--Rumor has it a cast member operates the camel and decides which guests to spray with water.--this does sound familiar but I never rode this ride sadly. Probably because of said camel! ;)
  • Cast members do an average of 285,000 pounds of laundry per day.--According to Disney, if you washed and dried one load of laundry every day for 52 years, you'd clean as much as cast members at Disney World do in a single day. In addition to the 285,000 pounds they wash, 30,000 to 32,000 garments are dry-cleaned daily.
  • When the parks opened, admission was just $3.50.--Now Walt Disney World is the most expensive Disney park in the world.--again I say daaaaamn! I'd sooo buy a season pass for this park for that price per general day admission!
  • Cinderella's Castle has a guest room suite that people can actually stay in.--Walt Disney originally built the little apartment for himself but died before it was finished. The suite sleeps up to six people, but money can't buy you a chance to stay there. You can't make reservations; the only way you can get in on this amazing experience is by winning a sweepstakes Disney prize drawing.--this I NEVER knew! I mean I knew there was a suite there, but I did not know you can't pay to stay there! That would be the ultimate dream though!
  • Epcot is 32 years old.--The discovery showplace covers 305 acres and first opened on Oct. 1, 1982.
  • Expedition Everest is Walt Disney World's tallest attraction.--It's just under 200 feet tall.

  1. I still complain about Mr. Toad being closed. BOOO! HISS!!

Rumor has it that Disney is going to open a new hotel/resort, so they'd be doind a lot more laundry! Haha.

  2. I've seen the gravestone! My dad used to work for Walt Disney World so we would go like every weekend lol

I actually knew most of these. Did you know that there are underground tunnels in WDW for the cast members to travel throughout the parks and for the trash to be taken away more easily? I actually have a map of them somewhere...

  3. I kind of knew about the sweepstakes to win a stay in the suite for a few nights, because the old disney channel would mention it from time with the warning to ask a parent before logging in and entering the sweepstakes. :)

  4. Wild Ride is permanently close? I didn't know that! I loved that ride. And I totally want to get spit on by the camel!
