This week's question is: Tell us about a book that you didn’t like and why we shouldn’t read it…nicely.
MY ANSWER: Okay, I find this to be a tough one. Just because I didn't enjoy a book, I don't like to tell people not to read it. That's never been the way I roll. I just say in my reviews what didn't work for me.
But let's try this anyway, to all you paranormal readers out there, I would recommend against reading:
Jodi Lynn Anderson's The Vanishing Season. I just read an ARC of it last week and I seriously did not like it at all. My review will be up closer to its release. But the short version is that I was expecting it to be a thriller! A nice YA thriller with a small twist of paranormal. I didn't get any of that!
The "thriller" part was extremely weak, the mystery part nearly nonexistent. The paranormal element? Also very weak. It basically turned out to be a contemporary read with very weak mystery, thriller and paranormal elements and I mean really weak. They weren't apart of the story at all practically.
But if you like contemporaries with very low key, barely there paranormal, thriller and mystery elements then I would recommend this read to you. But if you're a paranormal, thriller or mystery reader in the YA area, I wouldn't recommend this. Unless you too, like contemporaries!
