Review--Lethal Outlook by Victoria Laurie

The New York Times bestselling author of the “enthralling thriller”* Vision Impossible is back with her newest Psychic Eye mystery, in which psychic Abigail Cooper must rely on her inner vision to search for a missing woman…

When a mysterious client approaches Abby with a cryptic message about a young mother who has vanished, Abby is more than willing to get involved.  After all, it’s the perfect distraction from dealing with the headache of her sister Cat – who has flown into town and turned Abby and Dutch’s impending nuptials into Weddingpalooza.

After Abby recruits her business partner and BFF, Candice, to assist, they meet with the parents of the missing woman.  But the parents refuse to put their faith in a psychic. What’s worse, due to a grave misunderstanding, the family suspects Abby has a connection to their daughter’s husband – the man they believe to be responsible for her disappearance.

So while the family may be blind to the truth, with a potential killer in her sights, Abby is determined to keep her eyes wide open...

I seriously LOVE Victoria Laurie's mystery series!! They are freaking awesome!! Her Psychic Eye Mysteries have a touch of paranormal to them since Abby herself is the real deal psych! And the mysteries she winds up in are always fraught with danger and psychopaths! It's amazing this girl is still standing, but that's part of what I love about her! She's resilient!

Lethal Outlook continues the long running story of Abby's tale! While it isn't always necessary to read the series in order, you do get bits of Abby's life throughout the books, and those parts do carry on to the next book and such and that's where it's important to read them in order. The mystery itself is always new and is resolved by the end.

This time around Abby and her best gal pal, Candice are looking into a case of a missing woman. But nearly right away, Abby knows they will be looking for a body and the murderer rather than the woman herself. Abby has got true talent is this regard among many other psychic abilities that help her solve these cases, but this one turns out to be tougher than she thought.

There are too many suspects and pretty much all of these suspects are telling the truth when she talks to them, she has the ability to detect lies from people, hence the issue with the case. And let me tell you, it was pretty tricky! I would keep trying to guess the murderer myself, but could never really back up my guess with evidence and then I would turn my gaze to someone else or dismiss someone else because it would be too easy for this suspect to be the murderer.

And that my friends, is what I LOVE about these mysteries! When you get turned around in circles, much like Abby, and cannot figure out the who done it til the very end with a confrontation, as is wont to happen!

These are always fairly quick reads for me! They are incredibly fun and fast paced, yet you never once feel lost or slip from the story! Abby is witty and hilarious at times! With her love of anything fried and greasy and easy going attitude she makes for a fun main character! What I love most about her is her colorful language! She tries very hard not to swear and what comes out of her mouth is quite unique and funny! And when she does swear, it doesn't count! And she'll tell you why in parentheses! And if it does count she makes a memo to add a quarter to her swear jar, which she won't really reveal its total!

Abby and Dutch are a very cute couple! We don't see much romance between them since they are both always busy with their cases--Dutch works with the FBI--the moments that they have together are sweet! There's not a lot of heavy romance, Abby keeps things strictly PG-13! The two are getting married soon and Abby mistakenly asked her sister Cat for help with the wedding, who has gone overboard with plans and is driving Abby crazy! I look forward to the next book when the wedding will actually happen! Pending, of course!

Victoria Laurie is an author I HIGHLY recommend if you are looking for a good mystery with a little bit of paranormal in it! Like I said, her Psychic Eye Mysteries are only "lightly paranormal" since Abby is a psychic! If you want harder stuff, go with her Ghost Hunter Mysteries which always has a ghost or demon in the storyline and those can be quite chilling too! (On a side note, another author with two great mystery series with paranormal elements is Juliet Blackwell! I intend to read her latest editions soon, hopefully!)

Lethal Outlook was yet again, another wonderful edition to the series! It's such a fabulous series I would hate to see it end. And since there are always mysteries to be solved, Abby might be busy for awhile. At least I hope so!
