This week's question is: What book (or TV show or movie) have you not read that seemingly everyone else has?

MY ANSWER: Oh that's an easy one! There are quite a few books I can think of. Maybe not movies and TV shows.

The first that popped in my head was The Hunger Games. That can be said of both book and movies.

For some reason the premise just didn't appeal to me. Didn't grab my attention when I read what it was about. So I moved on. Now it seems like everyone's read and loved it!

Other books would be a slew of popular contemporaries. Mostly YA ones that I seem to see everywhere! Contemps just aren't my kind of read. I need my paranormal fix when reading in some variation! I can't even think of titles in this category, but Katie Gerry seems to be a popular one!

  3. Just watch the movies and then you'll still know what everyone else is talking about, but you won't have to actually read the series. :-)

  5. Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and Vampire Diaries seem to be favorite answers this week. Fortunately for me, I've read and loved them all. HG is great because of the way it's written, and because the stakes are high. You just can't stop reading it. I'm not into contemporaries either, and for much the same reason--I need really high, exciting stakes, and drama, especially of the high school variety, just doesn't do it for me. :D

My FFs are at LKHill and Musings on Fantasia.

  6. Hoipping through. Give Hunger Games a try. I hate dystopia but I ended up really liking it. It's written well.

  8. Haven't read Hunger games either, although I thought the movie was pretty good. I'm way behind on a lot of YA stuff...

  10. Gah! I surprised you haven't read this, Jessica. I didn't read them for a long time but I did enjoy them. As for books I haven't read yet, there are so, so many. :)

    Happy Friday!

  12. I apparently lived under a rock because I had never heard of the Hunger Games till the movie was coming out. My wife loved it so I decided to read it before we saw the movie. I was hooked and read the other two.

  13. I loved the book, although the subject was a bit uncomfortable at first. And sad. Perhaps once you see the second film, you won't be able to push off reading the third book :D Thanks for stopping by my FF. Old follower.

  17. I don't care too much for that series either. I can relate :)

  18. oh my gosh! You haven't read this!! I think you should definitely give it a shot. the books are a lot better than the movie. I didn't want to read this for years, it didn't sound good, but it's a lot better than the synopsis makes it seem!

  19. I haven't read the Hunger Games series either. I saw the first movie and liked the idea of a strong female teen protagonist (at least she wasn't whiny) but I'm not sure if I want to invest the time in the rest of the series. Thanks for stopping by my F&F

  20. Same here with the Hunger Games. But I did watch the movie and didn't love it so I doubt I'll actually read them, even though I have them all on paperback.

Thanks for stopping by my FF Jessica.

  21. I had tried reading HG when it first came out and wasn't really into it. One of my BFFs (a librarian) convinced me to give it another shot just after Mockingjay was released. I enjoy them, but don't think they're an end all, be all of YA lit! :) Thanks for stopping by my FF, old follower passing through.

  22. I was totally that way about HG too. I finally made myself sit down and read it last Dec. I'm glad I finally got it out of the way. I really enjoyed the entire series. Old follower, of course. Thanks for visiting my FF.

  23. The premise and hype did nothing for me on this series either. However, I finally cracked down and read it. No regrets! Great book in my opinion. My boyfriend kept saying he would never read the book or see the movie. He came home to see me just when I started it one day, Sat through the whole thing, then bought the movie the next day. So I think it takes people be surprise.

  24. Wow! you're the first person I know who haven't read The Hunger Games yet. But I understand where you're coming from. Not all people would like the same thing. I guess, you just have to take your time. Forcing yourself to read a book would certainly make you end up hating it. Hahaha.
