ARC Review--Reborn by C.C. Hunter

New York Times bestselling author C.C. Hunter returns to Shadow Falls with this brand new series.

Enter Shadow Falls: After Dark and meet a vampire named Della, who's about to discover what her own story it meant to be...

Della had the perfect life--the family, a boyfriend, and a bright future--until she was turned, abandoned by everyone she loves. She takes refuge at Shadow Falls, a camp for teens with paranormal powers. It's where she and her best friends, Kylie and Miranda, heal their heartbreak with laughter, where Della is training to be a paranormal investigator--and she refuses to be distracted. That means there's no time for romance with Steve, a gorgeous shapeshifter whose kisses melt her heart.

When a new vampire named Chase shows up at camp, Della's world is thrown into even more chaos. Arrogant and annoyingly sexy, Chase is a mystery...and the only mystery Della likes is one she can solve. She can't solve Chase, at least not while she's dealing with ghostly hauntings, vampire gangs and a web of family secrets. Can she prove herself as an investigator and keep her life--and her heart--intact?

I received this ARC from the author, as a member of her Street Team, in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way compensated for this review.

I was beyond happy to be on C.C. Hunter's Street Team once again, this time for Della's story! Shadow Falls: After Dark sets off C.C.'s new series that still takes place in the same world with the same characters and everything, only this time our favorite vampire is the heroine! Reborn is only the beginning of Della's story and the events that take place will only begin what's sure to be an awesome series!

Now, you don't need to read the first series in order to understand or follow along with this one. But be aware, that you will be completely spoiled for the first Shadow Falls series. All the answers we craved with Kylie are already answered and acknowledged in this one!

Della is working to prove herself to Burnett to be a FRU member. It's her ultimate goal. She's already worked one case for him even. And that actually gets tied back to this story, but that's all I will say! You don't need to read Saved at Sunrise either, but again, it gives you some answers to things. And plus, that's when we get to see Steve and Della first come together! And oh my, do I love that shapeshiter!

Steve is pretty much head over heels for Della. Yet, poor Della, is scared. She doesn't admit it, but with her past issues in the romance area and her ex-boyfriend, she's not wanting to be in a real relationship. But she does like the way Steve makes her feel. If you're looking for relationship drama, you're about to get a doozie of one! Not only does Della have feelings for Steve and all, but a new vampire at the camp, Chase is after her heart as well. And there was even another camper who wanted to Della as his partner in the "get to know your campmate" hour. Won't say who, but it was definitely shocking. Although, I don't think he's going to be a contender for Della's heart. He didn't play much of a role in the grand scheme of things and only made his intent to want to get to know Della once.

Chase is definitely one mystery Della wants to solve and asap. Della hates not knowing things and yet, she feels as if she's met Chase sometime before because his scent is awfully familiar to her. But Chase continues to be the vamp of mystery. He doesn't tell her everything and what he does tell her is sometimes a lie.

Della and Chase are put together to work on a case for FRU. There's murder victims and Della is determined to bring their spirits some much needed justice by finding the killer. But Della's also got another round of problems going on, besides the boy trouble, she also can't get a hold of her cousin. There seems to be some family secrets in the hiding and Della recruits Derek in helping her solve that particular mystery.

I really enjoy the way C.C. weaves all these storylines together. While not everything is connected, I do like how in the end, all the connections are made clear and it's just extraordinary! I am pleased to say that this one did not end with a cliffhanger. True, there are bits of info that Della learned in the last five pages, but it really just gives you an idea of what she'll be doing next. Those last few paragraphs and sentences don't leave you hanging. There's a nice calm moment...and then the storm is likely to come October 28th when the next book releases!

Reborn was simply a delight! Della was one of my favorite characters in the Shadow Falls series because she just has that kind of spunk to her that I find enjoyable! She's sassy and has attitude and pretty much says what she's thinking. But there is a kinder, gentler side to her that we see occasionally and I just find more and more to like about that girl! Needless to say, the the Shadow Falls: After Dark series is going to rock!

Overall Rating 5/5 stars
