Diesel Jones is a shifter who has issues with the moon, but he quickly finds that Sofia Cabrera, a clever witch who just moved in to town, is his only hope to reach his goal of becoming a Collector. When they pair up to take down an incubus, she not only saves his life, but wins his heart in the process…
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.
Never has a novella series been so addicting to me! The Sin City Collectors series is without a doubt one of my favorite novella series ever! I love these short reads entirely and can't wait to read more from Amanda Carlson and the other authors who I am awaiting for their contributions! Ante Up is Amanda Carlson's second installment in the series so far, currently we have 3 novellas in the series. And we even get an appearance by Neve in this one too!
Sofia is the witch we met in Amanda's first novella Aces Wild, and now she has a few problems of her own, ones that are connected to Diesel Jones, a shifter on a job in order to become a full-fledged Collector! He must track down an incubus to question, in order to find the incubus's sister who is wanted for questioning by the mysterious boss. The stories collide when Sofia is being mind-stalked by an incubus.
Diesel has a bad history with incubi as one of them killed his father when he was just a child. So he has a strong hate for them all. And naturally, there's already some heated tension brewing between him and Sofia and when he learns that an incubus is stalking her, his protective side comes out full force, being a werewolf and all.
I truly enjoyed this story to the fullest! I love werewolf reads! Not sure why really, guess all my paranormal reading over the years makes me love the werewolf a lot despite having started with vampires. Ante Up is a fast paced read, but still filled with incredible and re-memorable characters, action, romance and a bit of humorous banter between the characters! This is a highly addictive novella series and I am interested to see the other stories that are bound to come up from the other authors too!
Amanda's next novella in the series will deal with two other characters we meet in this one and that one as well promises to be a delight!
Overall Rating 5/5 stars
Ante Up is out today!!
Awesome review!
ReplyDeleteI've had the Sin City Collectors series on my TBR for a while now and haven't had the chance to read it yet. This definitely gives me more incentive to do so now :)
I've never heard of this series (or author). This looks like it might be a fun read! Oh, and great review! Thanks so much for sharing :)

I haven't heard of this series before. I really like the idea of a novella series. Sometimes I'm not in the mood to sit down to a 400+ page novel, and finishing a short book in one sitting sounds so good :D Great review Jessica!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read a good werewolf story in a while and sounds like something I could really enjoy
