Loving this one so far! The bantering between Holly and Will is just incredible! And it's soon becoming more than just bantering...! ;)
"A slow wide grin pulled at his lips. 'Let me see if I have this correctly,' he said, struggling not to crow, 'you are going to rub your hands all over my body...' --she narrowed her eyes in distaste, which only made his grin reach epic proportions--'slowly and thoroughly--'

This week's topic is: Top Ten Books People Have Been Telling You That You MUST Read
Ohhhh, this one is particularly hard. Not many people recommend me a book personally. Mostly because it is a likely something outside my genre that I read. So these recommendations will be more like popular books I see around a LOT! Some might have been recommended personally to me too!
*in no particular order
1. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer--I struggled with Cinder, but everyone tells me Scarlet is better! So, you all better be right because I bought it last weekend and will be reading it soon!
2. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas--I see this one around a lot! So it's like a recommendation, my friend even bought it for me for Xmas last year, I read it. I just didn't like it as much as I had hoped.
3. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins--another one of those reads that is just everywhere, although since the books are over and the movies are nearing the end with part 1 of the final book coming out this year. But the premise never really intrigued me enough to want to read it despite everyone saying I should.
4. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness--I saw this one around a LOT! I decided I wanted to try it, but I only got around 100 pages read before I realized I just wasn't that into it. :(
5. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon--one I am hoping I will enjoy! Saw it around a lot, read good reviews, bought it at TJMaxx for a mere $7 for the HC! Fingers crossed!
6. Legend by Marie Lu--maybe one not necessarily recommended to me, but one I see around quite a bit. Or did. It has me curious. So I'm in the debating stage of things!
7. The Glass Casket by McCormick Templeman--I saw this one around a LOT! It sounded interesting and the reviews were good. I was intrigued. I initially was going to write it off as one I didn't need, but it's in the TBR mountain.
8. The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson--another one I was going to write off when NG first had it, but then reviews started popping up. And it sounded REALLY good! So into the TBR pile it went!
9. Dangerous by Shannon Hale--not sure how I stumbled onto this one. But I read a review or two and was convinced right away that I needed it. Reviews will do that to me! So into the TBR pile it is!
10. Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen--another one that I just kept seeing over the blogosphere. It sounded intriguing and the reviews just kept being positive. So yeah, it's in the TBR pile too!
Cute tease. I'm not familiar with this book. Hope you're enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of your choices for MUST read. Throne of Glass and The Hunger Games are on my TBR list but they haven't managed to make to the top quite yet.
I liked the teaser- too funny. You know where his mind is.
ReplyDeleteMy Teaser
That tease is funny, and it sure made me very curious, Jessica.
ReplyDeleteYour top ten list is good too, several of those same books would have been on my list if I had participated.
Happy reading!
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
I enjoyed Legend. It's one of my favorite dystopians.
ReplyDeleteSorry you didn't get into A Discovery of Witches :(
I have The Kiss of Deception on my TBR as well because of all the reviews. Everyone was talking about how awesome it was, which makes me a wee bit nervous to read it because of the pressure!
I have mixed feelings about Throne of Glass, too. I'm reading Scarlet, and I do think it's better than Cinder, but I also keep interrupting it to read other things, while Cinder kept me engrossed.

Lots of great books on this list. I definitely recommend Cinder, The Hunger Games, and The Bone Season. I think you know how I feel about A Discovery of Witches. I included Throne of Glass and Legend on my list this week. Definitely a few books I see recommended a lot! Great list!
ReplyDeleteCassi @ My Thoughts Literally
Love that teaser!! Oh, and I should have put Legend on my list too. Oh, and I've really wanted to read A Discovery of Witches and The Bone Season too!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I personally loved all three books in The Hunger Games trilogy, but if it’s not grabbing your attention, don’t force yourself to read it just because it’s popular ;) I’m currently reading Throne of Glass, and it’s amazing, so far! I’d highly recommend it. I need to read Scarlet, as well, but I didn’t include it on my list. I walk by it every day on my bookshelf and I know I’ll cave in and read it sooner rather than later! Great list Jessica :D
ReplyDeleteAlma @ Journey Through Fiction
I just put Legend on my to-read list! And there are a lot of great books up there that others are recommending, Lunar Chronicles, Throne of Glass, and Hunger Games trilogy are all very good.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy
We definitely have some of the same ones on our posts -- everyone tells me to read Throne of Glass as well!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Tuesday post!!
Eva @ All Books Considered
The Glass Casket is a pretty good read, I wouldn't call it a Snow White retelling but it is creepy!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Amber Elise @ Du Livre
I have The Kiss of Deception and I'm dying to start it soon! I recommend Legend cause it's fast-paced and action-packed. Stolen Songbird is quite interesting too :)
ReplyDeleteScarlet really wasn't as good as Cinder... You probably won't enjoy it if you didn't love Cinder. You should definitely read The Hunger Games though! That was an amazing series!
ReplyDeleteHere are my Top Ten!
Oh my gosh there are so many AMAZING books on that list haha; you need to get on that! :)
ReplyDeleteJessica @ Ramblings on Readings
scarlet and throne of glass made my list too, as you know :) Maybe one day we will both get to them!!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add a Discovery of Witches to mine! Dangit!! I've been getting told about it a lot. You have me scared to try it now though!
Amber @ Paradise of Pages
Hahaha!! Love the tease! Sounds like a hard thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI have a few on your top 10, that I still need to read!
Thanx for visiting my TT
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
Hunger Games is definitely worth reading, and book 2 was even better than book 1. I haven't read Discover of Witches, but a friend I trust read it and, like you, said it was hard to stick with, so I probably won't pick that one up. Happy Tuesday, Jessica! :D
ReplyDeleteSo I didn't much like Throne of Glass either, but apparently book two is much much better?
ReplyDeleteWhat???!!! You have to stop blogging and read the first three books. They're awesome. The second book of the Throne of Glass is way better than the first one. Some revelations were revealed and we get to see Celaena in action.
ReplyDeleteScarlet is awesome too. How come you didn't like Cinder? And The Hunger Games is definitely a must read. Strong and interesting characters. And the plot was definitely unique.
Have fun reading all of these, Jessica!
I really like Legend and Scarlet. The Lunar Chronicles get better and better with every book, but I felt like the Legend Trilogy's second book was the best.
ReplyDelete- Kritika @ Snowflakes & Spider Silk
The Kiss of Deception is one I really need to read too! Everyone seems to love it. Great list!
